Causative Verb (कारण-वाचक क्रिया)


In Hindi, causative verbs are used very frequently. Though the uses of causative verb is very simple. The verb that indicate an action which is directly not done by the subject but indirectly done by the third party is called causative verb.
(वैसा क्रिया जो किसी तीसरे के माध्यम से कार्य पूरा हो इसलिए उसे कारण-वाचक क्रिया कहते है।)

Identification of causative verb is to add "Vana" word of the intransitive verb word.
(कारण-वाचक क्रिया की पहचान जिस शब्द के अंत मे "वाना" जुङा हो वो शब्द कारण-वाचक शब्द होता हैं।)

पकाना  (Pakana - to be cooked) पकवाना - (Pakvana - to cause to cook)
खाना (Khana - to be eat) खिलवाना -(Khilavana - to cause to eat).
पीना (Peena - to be drink) पिलवाना - (Pilvana - to cause to drink).
सिखना (Sikhana - to be learn) सिखवाना - (Sikhvana - to cause to learned)
जीतना (Jeetna -to be win) जीतवाना - (Jeetvana - to cause to success)
चलना (Chalna - to be walk) चलवाना - (Chalvana - to cause to walked)
पीटना (Peetna - to be beat) पिटवाना - (Pitvana - to cause to beaten)
मिलना (Milna - to be meet) मिलवाना - (Milvana - to cause to meet)
पढना (Padna - to be read) पढवाना - (Padvana - to cause to read)
करना (Karna - to be do) करवाना – (Karvana – to cause to do)
उठना (Uthna -  to be rise) उठवाना – (Uthvana – to cause to raised)
जलना (Jalna – to be burned) जलवाना – (Jalvana – to cause to burn)

Note: These verbs also depends on the gender:
For Masculine “वाना” changes to “वाया”
For Feminine “वाना” changes to “वाई”



पकवाना – Pakvaana – to cause to cook
मैंने आज बहन से खाना बनवाया ।
Maine aaj behan se khaana banvaaya.
Today i made my sister to cook.

खिलवाना – Khilvaana – to cause to eat
रोहण अपने मित्रो को घर पर खाना खिलवाया।
Rohan apne mitro ko ghar par khana khilwaya.
Rohan's friend ate dinner at his home.

पिलवाना - (Pilvana - to cause to drink).
नेहा बच्चो को जूस पिलवाई।
Neha bacho ko juice pilvaai.
Neha gave juice to kids

सिखवाना – Sikhvana – to cause to learn
मैंने अपनी बहन को शिक्षक से फ्रेंच सिखवाई ।
Maine apni behan ko shikshak se french sikhwayi.
I made my sister to learn french by the teacher.

जीतवाना - (Jeetvana - to cause to success)
उसने मुझे दौङ जीतवाया।
Usne mujhe race jeetvaaya.
He made me to win the race.

चलवाना - (Chalvana - to cause to walk)
राम ने सुरेश को बहुत चलवाया।
Ram ne suresh ko bhut chalvaya.
Ram made suresh to walk a lot.

पिटवाना - (Pitvana - to cause to beaten)
रमन ने उसको बहुत पिटवाया।
Raman ne usko bhut pitvaya.
Raman made beat him a lot.

मिलवाना - (Milvana - to cause to meet)
मैने उसे पुराने दोस्तों से मिलवाई।
Maine use purane dosto se milwayi.
I made her to meet old friends.

पढवाना - (Padvana - to cause to read)
राहुल ने अपने दोस्तों से समाचार पढवाया ।
Rahul ne apne doston se samachar padhvaya.
Rahul made his friends to read newspaper.

करवाना – (Karvana – to cause to do)
शिक्षक ने छात्रों से बहुत काम करवाया
Shikshak ne chatro se bhut kam karvaya.
The teacher made students to do work hard.

उठवाना – (Uthvana – to cause to raised)
अमीरो ने मजदूरो से भारी उठवाया।
Amiron ne majduro se bhari uthvaya.
The rich people made labour to lift heavy things.

जलवाना – (Jalvana – to cause to burn)
रिया ने दिवाली मे पङाके जलवाई।
Riya ne diwaali me padake jalvayi.
Riya burned crackers in the eve of Diwali
