Hindi Proverbs (मुहावरा)
Proverbs - The phrases which leave a common meaning except to clarify a particular meaning is called phrase.
मुहावरा - वैसा वाक्यांश जो अपने सामान्य अर्थ को छोड़कर किसी ख़ास अर्थ को स्पष्ट करे उसे मुहावरा कहते हैं।
There are so many famous phrases. Such as:
1) अपने मुँह मियाँ मिट्ठू बनना - स्वयं अपनी प्रशंसा करना (Self praise):
वाक्य (Sentence): बुद्धिमान आदमी को अपने मुहँ मियाँ मिट्ठू बनना शोभा नहीं देता। (Intelligent people does not self praise.)
2) अंग छूटा - कसम खाना (Swear) राम अंग छूकर कहता है मैने चोरी नही किया।
वाक्य (Sentence): (Ram says that he did not steal the item by respectfully touching and swearing at the other person)
3) अंग-अंग मुसकाना - बहुत प्रसन्न होना (Very happy):
वाक्य (Sentence): रोहिणी परीक्षा मे पास होने के बाद उसका अंग-अंग मुसकुरा उठा। (After passing her exam Rohini felt very happy)
4) अंग-अंग ढीला होना - बहुत थक जाना (Full Tired):
वाक्य (Sentence): दौङने के बाद लोगो का पूरा अंग-अंग ढीला हो जाता है। (After running people got fully tired).
5) जिसकी लाठी उसकी भैंस - जो ताकतवर होता है उसी की बात माननी पङती है। (Might is right):
वाक्य (Sentence):जो अमीर होता है उसकी लाठी उसकी भैंस चलती है। (People who move towards right path their might is right).
6) आँखों में धूल झोंकना - धोखा देना (Cheating):
वाक्य (Sentence): राम अपने मित्रों के आँख मे धूल झोक रहा है। (Ram is cheating on his friends)
7) आँखें बिछाना - स्वागत करना (Welcome):
वाक्य (Sentence): अतिथि के आने पर सब लोग आँखें बिछाते है। (Everyone's eyes were popped on guest's arrival.)
8) आँखों का तारा - बहुत प्यारा (Very loving):
वाक्य (Sentence): राम अपनी माँ की आँखो का तारा है। (Ram is very loving to his mom).
9)अपना उल्लू सीधा करना - अपना काम बना लेना (To make your job)
वाक्य (Sentence): वह चालाकी से अपना अपना उल्लू सीधा कर लिया। (He completed his work smartly).
10) आग बबूला होना - अत्यधिक क्रोध करना (Getting more angry)
वाक्य (Sentence): ऱाजा अपनी मंत्रीयों पर आग बबूला हो गया (The King is getting more angry on his ministers).
11) आसमान टूट पड़ना - अचानक मुसीबत आ जाना (Sudden trouble to come)
वाक्य (Sentence): अचानक लक्ष्मी बाई के जीवन मे आसमान टूट पड़ा। (Sudden trouble came into the life of Laxmi Bai)
12) कलेजा ठण्डा होना - शांत होना (to be cool):
वाक्य (Sentence): चिल्लाने के बाद कलेजा ठण्डा हो गया। (After shouting for a while, heart feels very cool).
13) कान काटना - चतुर होना (to be smart):
वाक्य (Sentence): अपने काम मे बहुत कान काटता है। (His work is very smart).
14) कान खड़े होना - सावधान हो जाना (To be careful):
वाक्य (Sentence): रास्ता पार करने पर कान खड़े होना चाहिए (Be careful while crossing the road).
15) काम खत्म करने के लिए - मारने के लिए (to kill):
वाक्य (Sentence): बिल्ली ने चूहे का काम खत्म कर दिया। (cats kill the rats).
16) कलेजा मुंह को आना - घबरा जाना (Scared):
वाक्य (Sentence): हेमा को अंधेरे में कलेजा मुंह को आ जाती है। (Hema is getting scared in the dark)
17) कुएं में बांस डालना - बहुत खोजबीन करना (do more research):
वाक्य (Sentence): कॉलेज में प्रवेश करने के लिए कुएं में बांस डाल रहा है। (Do more research to get admission in that college)
18) कलेजा फटना - दुःख होना (be sad):
वाक्य (Sentence): रीमा को कलेजा फट गया है। (Reema seems to be sad).
19) चाँद का टुकड़ा होना - बहुत सुंदर होना (very beautiful):
वाक्य (Sentence): नेहा चाँद का टुकड़ा है। (Neha is very beautiful).
20) चांदी काटना - अधिक लाभ कमाना (more profit):
वह व्यापार मे चांदी काट रहा है। (he is getting more profit in his business).
